Are you the one who usually has a stash of photos that you wish no one can access and view? If yes, then we have got something in common.
I am a fan of the KeepSafe app, which is one of the well-known and best file vault app. However, it does have limitations if you are using the free version. So I looked out for several best android apps in Google Play Store, which have similar capabilities like KeepSafe. Meanwhile, I was invited by the Pinbox App team to try out their new app.
So, I am using it for a few days now, and so far I like it very much. So without wasting any more of your time, let’s jump right into the in-depth review of the Pinbox Android App and find out all of its positive and negative facts.

Best App to Hide Private Data: Pinbox Review
Just right after I installed the Pinbox App, I was asked to create a new account and set a pin for easy access every time to access the vault. It was just a 30 seconds setup, and I was ready to add content to the vault.
Note: Transferring all the data from one vault app to another can be frustrating, so I will recommend only to transfer if you don’t want two vault apps. Otherwise, you will be fine.
Now, if you are already looking for an app to hide your sexy stuff and maybe ugly photos of your best friend, then you already know how the app works. So, I am not going into the process, as it is straightforward. Let’s skip right to the features of Pinbox Gallery Lock.
After installing the app, I can confirm the features that I have used, which are:
- Photos Secure Access
- Files & Videos Secure Access
- Private Notes
- Secure Password Storage
- All of the things are stored online in the cloud (I can’t confirm how much storage they are providing but from the looks, it seems unlimited, at least for now but it has max file size limit as mentioned by someone in the Google Play Store comments)
- Self Destructive Self-Share Links for Secure Photos (For Sharing)
- Free & Without Ads (A Dream Come True!)
Personally, for me, this is all the things that you were probably looking for, but here are some of the features I think that should be added:
- Offline Vault Support
- Document Scanner should be able to crop photos (Can be achieved using CamScanner)
- Some Options Aren’t Working in Settings like Plan Option (Maybe because it’s free)
- Files should be automatically removed from device storage after adding it to the vault.
The features that are lacking from Pinbox App are not a dealbreaker. But from the comments on the Official Page on Google Play Store, it’s safe to say that their team is responsive and supportive when it comes to customer support.
The primary purpose of using vault is to protect the data from being accessed by an unauthorized person or identity. So how Pinbox app safeguards your private data? Let’s find out.
Note: I contacted the developers of the Pinbox App, and they were very supportive in answering all questions.
Pinbox uses 256 bit AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) to encrypt your important data. While carrying out the network transfer of your data, everything is protected on the network by secure SSL(Secure Socket Layer)/TLS(Transport Layer Security).
Also, they mentioned that they are not opting for an offline vault is because if ever the user’s device gets lost or stolen, there is no chance for anyone to brute force or decrypt the encrypted data as it doesn’t exist in the first place. Smart Move!
Apart from that, for now, the only security option available is via PIN. Fingerprint support is not available, and probably it’s for the best. 4 Digit PIN will keep your data secure unless you share it with anyone.
If you are worried that someone might find out the password by standing in proximity, then don’t worry; turn on the random digits from the settings, and every time you need to enter a PIN, the numbers will be randomly arranged on the screen.
You can also find out if anyone tried to break into your secure data. You can turn on break-in notification from the settings, which will enable the functionality to capture the photo and send it to you if the unlocking fails. Awesome, right?
As Pinbox App is new in the market, they are trying to push out as many features on this app. So you will notice a regular flow of update which may contain new features, UI improvements, security patches, and many more exciting things. That’s why I love updates <3
Suppose you get into any trouble whether while using the app or any other related problem, the support of the developer is a must. And that’s provided here pretty quick and generously. You can check out the quick responses provided by the Pinbox App team to the queries and comments of Google Play Users.
If you have gotten this far in the article, then your answer is clear. You love the Pinbox app as I do. For sure, it has its downsides and upsides. But for all that matters, if the app does the job you require without being fancy and providing additional features, then that’s the one to go for. It works well, at least for me! The same thing goes for other life decisions if you know what I mean.
With all that being said, I hope that you like the review of the Pinbox app. Do let me know what you think about it and how it can be further improved. You can also suggest other alternatives.
Have a great day!
